CONCEPT

Alberto Morillas chose a subtle and literal interpretation of this iconic pop standard, while hinting at the irreverent touch Madonna instilled into the song.

“I’m a longtime fan of Madonna’s work and the way she constantly reinvents herself. For “Like a Virgin”, I tried to capture the essence of who she was at this point in her life and the energy surrounding the song and era.” Alberto Morillas

THOUGHTS

Among the fragrances from Art Meets Art, Like A Virgin is the one I find myself loving the most. I was especially delighted when I discovered that it was created by Alberto Morillas, as I have long been a fan of his work. His ability to craft refined, luminous fragrances with a sense of transparency is something I deeply admire, and Like A Virgin beautifully reflects that signature style.

The opening unfolds with a radiant aquatic note that immediately conveys a sense of clarity and light. A gentle citrus nuance, reminiscent of mandarin, adds a fresh and uplifting brightness. As the fragrance begins to evolve, soft floral notes of rose, freesia, and peony gradually emerge. Rather than a dense bouquet, these florals feel airy and delicate—like flowers gently floating on a sunlit water surface, shimmering with light and transparency.

On my skin, the rose remains subtle, while the soft, spring-like character of peony becomes more prominent. Combined with the lightness of freesia, the fragrance develops into a clean, bright, and comforting floral accord that feels both elegant and effortless.

In the dry-down, musk and ambroxan appear, leaving a clean and soft trail. These base notes support the transparent character established in the opening, allowing the fragrance to settle naturally into the skin. The overall impression remains light, airy, and refined from beginning to end, creating a beautifully polished composition.

Like A Virgin is an aquatic floral fragrance that captures a sense of light and transparency. Wearing it evokes the positive, lighthearted energy associated with Madonna and her iconic song “Like A Virgin.” The projection is gentle and never overpowering, making it perfectly suitable for office settings and everyday wear—situations in which I have often reached for this fragrance.

It is a scent I find myself returning to again and again, and it has become something close to a signature scent for me. With its balance of transparency and lightness, Like A Virgin is a fragrance that quietly accompanies everyday life with effortless elegance.
