CONCEPT

An island in the southernmost, an oasis.
The wind combs through the green hair on the back of the hills and detangles the scents.
The rustle of grass cuts through the breeze and leaves a long-running lime-colored hue.
Fruits grow on the island’s skin and gradient to yellow, the mark of fingernail on its peel looks like a sickle moon.
The color brushes through the landscape and runs down the sea. A splash of turquoise.
The blue of water on shore washes up and meets the yellow of the island.
A beautiful blend of colours.

THOUGHTS

Jeju is one of my favorite fragrances from One Day. Inspired by perfumer Michael Wong’s memories of visiting Jeju Island in South Korea, it evokes something slightly different for me: the scent of colorful summer vegetables and lush greenery that filled the air when I visited my grandparents’ home during summer vacation. There is a comforting nostalgia woven throughout the fragrance that makes it particularly special.

The opening is defined by a bright and refreshing burst of citrus. The citrus notes are remarkably vibrant and long-lasting, yet never overwhelming, delivering a crisp freshness that feels both uplifting and natural. Basil adds a subtle herbal bitterness that sets Jeju apart from a typical citrus fragrance, giving the composition greater depth and character.

As the fragrance develops, green accords and tomato leaf begin to emerge, bringing a vivid impression of freshly crushed leaves and sunlit gardens. At the same time, orange blossom softens the sharp edges of the citrus, allowing the scent to become smoother and more rounded. On my skin, once the greener facets begin to settle, I notice a faint aroma reminiscent of steamed rice—a note not officially listed, but one that adds a comforting warmth and a sense of nostalgia to the composition. The scent reminds me of walking through a garden filled with summer vegetables under the bright sun, carrying the simple and comforting atmosphere of childhood summers.

In the drydown, musk and cedarwood gently embrace the lingering green notes, allowing the fragrance to fade gradually into the skin. Rather than transforming dramatically, Jeju maintains its natural and effortless character until the very end.

With its blend of radiant citrus and fresh green accords, Jeju is a beautifully balanced unisex fragrance. It feels especially suited to Japan’s hot and humid summers, offering a refreshing yet comforting scent that captures both the vitality of nature and the warmth of cherished memories.
