CONCEPT
I once had the chance to travel through Kyushu, in the southern part of Japan. On that day, I was wandering alone in the cold breeze of Beppu, escaping the overwhelming heat of the onsen.
As I got lost in a small alley, I came across a large citrus tree standing inside a wooden house. The light was beautiful, steam drifted up from the streets, and the tree stood quietly behind a partially open wall. I found myself searching for the perfect angle to take a photo.
While I was standing there, I noticed the homeowner sweeping leaves beneath the tree. He looked up and caught my eye. I quickly bowed. Seeing the camera in my hand, he seemed to understand. He smiled, made an “okay” gesture, then beckoned me closer and handed me a large Iyokan, saying, “It’s very sweet give it a try.”
I accepted it, a little shy, and stepped aside near the street. As I peeled the fruit and took a bite, its juicy sweetness burst across my senses contrasting the cold air and blending with the gentle warmth of the onsen town.
It was one of the most comforting kinds of freshness I’ve ever experienced.
And that moment became the inspiration behind this fragrance an Iyokan scent that is soft, radiant, and full of life.

Iyokan is a fragrance that stands apart from typical orange scents, offering instead a remarkably realistic interpretation of Japanese iyokan citrus. As someone familiar with the scent of iyokan, I initially wondered whether such a specific citrus note could truly work as a perfume. However, Iyokan pleasantly exceeded my expectations, beautifully capturing the charm of this fruit in a refined and wearable composition.
The opening unfolds with a bright blend of iyokan and bergamot, creating a fresh and uplifting citrus impression. At the same time, a gentle, mandarin-like sweetness adds warmth to the freshness, resulting in a balanced and inviting introduction. The addition of neroli and pear brings a subtle fruity softness and a delicate floral nuance, giving the fragrance depth and transforming it from a simple citrus scent into a more sophisticated perfume.
In the heart, orange blossom blooms beautifully. It carries a honey-like sweetness, yet remains natural and never overly sugary, evoking the delicate nectar of fresh blossoms. Jasmine and muguet add a transparent floral layer, but the true protagonist remains the iyokan. The presence of yuzu introduces a refreshing citrus brightness along with a gentle bitterness, preventing the fragrance from becoming overly floral or simply sweet.
