THE CONCEPT
“Viroopaksa,” one of the four legendary Thai Naga beings, is known for its golden-colored scales and holds the highest rank among Nagas. These Nagas are believed to be born through a divine process or spontaneously, emerging fully grown with the highest level of power and blessings, akin to deities. Most of the time, they reside in the heavenly realm and are responsible for governing all Nagas. The progenitor is “King Viroopaksa,” one of the four celestial rulers overseeing the first of the six heavens. Viroopaksa King’s duty is to watch over and protect the western direction, in accordance with Thai Buddhist beliefs.
This fragrance is crafted from the essence of Oud, distilled from agarwood trees cultivated in Chanthaburi Province, Thailand. It boasts a distinct and pronounced honey-like base note with subtle hints of creaminess and leathery undertones. Yet, it retains a subtle hint of animalic or barnyard character, a unique trait of Thai oud, albeit in smaller quantities beneath the dominant honeyed aroma. It imparts an opulent and regal aura, mirroring the golden image of Viroopaksa, the Golden Naga.
The fragrance’s introduction features saffron and bergamot notes, enhancing the core scent. It is further enriched with Osmanthus Absolute, elevating the fruity, honeyed, and leathery facets of Chanthaburi Oud, adding complexity and intensifying the honeyed scent. Base notes of sweet sandalwood and vanilla contribute to a rich creaminess in the overall composition.

MY THOUGHTS
At first, VIROOPAKSA seemed very sweet to me. However, it’s actually a smoky and incredibly intriguing perfume. Bergamot and saffron highlight the heart notes of honey and osmanthus. However, it is not overly sweet; smooth leather adds an elegant fragrance. This combination of osmanthus and leather is incredibly smooth and unique. Finally, high-quality oud, sandalwood, and vanilla bring out a beautiful sweetness.
It’s not overly sweet, nor does it simply become a leather scent; it’s a well-balanced perfume. Especially when applied to the skin, it blends beautifully and develops a lovely fragrance. Isn’t there another perfume quite like this one?
