THOUGHTS
Oud Luwatu is a fruity woody fragrance inspired by the Indonesian island of Bali. Despite featuring oud, it is not heavy or overpowering. Instead, it strikes a beautiful balance between lightness and warmth.
The first notes that capture my attention are the refreshing, invigorating aromas of peppermint and basil. These are joined by the juicy scent of guava, adding a vibrant, succulent fruitiness to the composition. The way guava is portrayed here is particularly impressive. It captures not only the sweetness of the flesh but also the natural, realistic character of the fruit, almost as if it had been captured with its skin intact. On a blotter, the basil stands out more prominently, while on my skin, the guava takes center stage. It is such an addictive and captivating scent that I find myself reaching for the bottle again and again, simply to experience the opening one more time.
As the fragrance develops, juniper berries, geranium, and lavender gradually emerge, gently softening the initial fruity impression. The notes that stand out most to me are the freshness of lavender and the woody nuances of juniper berries. The lavender is not sharp or crisp in the traditionally masculine sense; instead, it feels soft and serene. As a result, it complements the guava beautifully without diminishing its appeal, bringing a natural sense of harmony to the composition. These refreshing herbal notes also have a calming effect, making the fragrance particularly soothing to smell.
From the heart to the base, the fragrance gradually transitions into a woody accord that settles gently onto the skin. The woods never feel dense or imposing; if anything, they are so soft that they even have a powdery quality. When I learned that white oud was used in this composition, I initially expected the fragrance to be quite heavy, but those concerns proved unfounded. This is certainly not the kind of scent that announces itself with overwhelming intensity or beast-mode projection. The white oud feels creamy and airy, adding a gentle warmth that envelops the entire composition.
Given its lightness and softness, I think this is a fragrance that can be worn comfortably throughout the year. It is also a beautifully balanced fruity woody scent that can be enjoyed regardless of gender. The vivid fruitiness of guava, the refreshing clarity of the herbal notes, and the gentle warmth of white oud come together effortlessly, creating a fragrance that feels light yet wonderfully nuanced.

トップノートでまず印象に残るのは、ペパーミントとバジルによる、清涼感あふれるフレッシュな香りです。そこにグアバのジューシーな香りが重なり、みずみずしいフルーティーさが広がります。このグアバの表現がとても上質で、果肉の甘さだけでなく、皮ごと香りにしたかのような、リアルで自然な果実感があります。ムエットではバジルの香りが特徴的に感じられる一方、私の肌の上ではグアバがより強く際立ちます。本当に癖になる魅力的な香りで、トップノートをもう一度楽しみたいがために、つい何度もスプレーしてしまいます。
やがて、ジュニパーベリーやゼラニウム、ラベンダーが加わり、トップノートのフルーティーな印象を穏やかに和らげていきます。なかでも印象に残るのは、ラベンダーの爽やかさとジュニパーベリーのウッディなニュアンスです。ラベンダーも、いわゆる「男らしい」シャープでキリッとした香りではなく、とても柔らかく穏やかな印象。そのため、グアバの魅力を損なうことなく、香り全体に自然な調和をもたらしています。こうした爽やかなハーバルノートが、嗅いでいると心を落ち着かせてくれます。
ハートノートからベースノートにかけては、徐々にウッディな香りへと移り変わり、肌にゆっくりと馴染んでいきます。ウッディノートは決して重厚ではなく、むしろパウダリーなニュアンスさえ感じられるほど柔らかな印象です。ホワイトウードが使われていると知り、当初はかなり重たい香りになるのではないかと想像していましたが、その心配は杞憂に終わりました。いわゆる「ビーストモード」と呼ばれるような、圧倒的な存在感や強さを放つ香りではありません。ホワイトウードはクリーミーで軽やかに香り、全体を包み込むような温かみを添えています。
この軽やかさと柔らかさを考えると、季節を問わず纏いやすい香水だと思います。また、性別を問わず楽しめる、バランスの取れたフルーティー・ウッディの香りです。グアバの鮮やかな果実感、ハーバルノートの清涼感、そしてホワイトウードの穏やかな温もり。それぞれが自然に調和した、軽やかでありながら奥行きのある香りです。
